And that’s where all their similarities with Barbie (2023) end, although when we asked them for their opinion on the movie, they said that they laughed at some of the jokes, but Daisies (1966) is still their favorite movie because Marie and Marie they still screw up with old farts better. They don’t play with barbies anymore, and they haven’t had their first period yet. The rules of their game are stupid.

Mara and Lenu’s humor is blacker and more politically incorrect than Barbie’s, because Mara and Lenu make fun of chauvinistic jokes, absurd examples of the degradation of women around the world, terrible stories from the domestic Croatian context with equal fervor, and do not miss any opportunity to put down each other or themselves. . They are deliberately irritating, lying, immature manipulators who whine, lie, over-groom and act badly. They are all witches.

The play enters into a dialogue with the current climate in Croatia and its related terribly postmodern horrible societies, in which men kneel for the lost chastity of women, and one woman experiences a public lynching because she wants to save her life with an abortion. Mara and Lena fart and burp at such a world, because they can afford it, because they are little girls who don’t even know anything about the world yet, or that’s exactly what’s cool about it.

Acknowledgements: Vera Chytilová, Hana Ćurak, Silvia Federici, Goethe-Institut Kroatien, Maša Grdešić, Paula Jurić, Lana Pukanić, Olja Savičević Ivančević, Dora Šustić, Dubravka Ugrešić, Natalie Wynn, Jasna Jasna Žmak
[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_3″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”et_body_layout”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.21.0″ _module_preset=”default” custom_margin=”5px||||false|false” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”et_body_layout” sticky_enabled=”0″]
Female author team:

Author of the female template and director of the female play:

Ivana Vuković

Dramaturge of the female performance

Nina Gojić

Co-authors of the female performance and the main and secondary female roles

Lana Meniga and Nikolina Prkačin

Producer of the female production

Romana Brajša

Collaborator for the women’s stage movement

Andreja Jandrić

Costume designer of women’s costumes

Ana Fucijaš

Women’s costume design assistant

Tina Spahija

Female sound

Nenad Kovačić

Female light

Elvis Butković

Co-producer of the female production

Ivor Martinić

Female production assistant

Dina Tudor

Dressmaker of womans costumes

Aleksandra Jurišić Rastović

designer of female design

Pavao Kuharić

Photographer of women’s photography

Karla Jurić

Production

Punctum Arts Organization, T25 and KunstTeatar

Premiere

October 19, 2023

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_3″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”et_body_layout”][et_pb_gallery gallery_ids=”2019,2020,2021″ show_title_and_caption=”off” show_pagination=”off” _builder_version=”4.21.0″ _module_preset=”default” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”et_body_layout” sticky_enabled=”0″][/et_pb_gallery][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

The world of Mara and Lena, two no longer girls, not yet women, is a world where, just like Barbie, they can be anything they want.
