Would be a shame if the plants died

It would be a shame if the plants died is a drama about the breakup of a long-term relationship. When one half of the couple fails to remember what the other considers the most important event in the relationship, this causes a crisis that activates a series of existential questions and doubts. Through numerous meetings, the now ex-lovers try to find a common truth, so that they can move on.

The drama deals with the need to tell an intimate history, the need for closeness and communication. The structure of the drama is open, offering numerous performance possibilities and requires the actors to borrow from their own biographies or improvise.

The work on staging the play It would be a shame if the plants died began in May of 2019 with an unconventional concert reading in the premises of the adjacent cafe. In the second phase of the project, through about a dozen performances, the actors Maja Posavec and Pavle Vrkljan explored, in an open stage communication with the playwright Ivor Martinić, mutual professional relationships in search of a satisfactory representation of the play in the theater setting.

In October of 2020, we will begin with the third phase of the project in which the actors remain on stage, with the focus of the play shifting to the relationship between the actors and the text of the drama in the performance.
